Recently, the Mindfulness Photography group went on a trip to see and photograph ‘Sensational Butterflies’ a new temporary exhibition at the Natural History Museum, in London. The group enjoyed a lovely day out, taking beautiful pictures of the amazing array of live butterflies in the special exhibition enclosure. To view some of the pictures that were taken by the group watch this short YouTube video below.

Mindfulness Photography is a user led mental health photography group that was set up in 2013 in Tower Hamlets, East London. The group was established with an aim to reduce social isolation and help lower hospital admissions by getting people involved in a creative activity within the community.

The group is a peer support group that runs Fridays from 11am-2pm at the Bromley by Bow Centre. Although, the photography group tends to typically be offsite enjoying taking various photos and trips each week!

Mindfulness Photography members get much more than just a photography lesson; they build friendships and support networks, promote inclusion and share inspiration. The group also encourages and supports group members as well as helping individuals to manage stress and wellbeing whilst helping to build confidence through photography and creativity.

If you are interested in joining The Mindfulness Photography group, it is open to anyone living in the London borough of Tower Hamlets who has been diagnosed with a mental health condition. No photography experience is needed and equipment can be provided.
