Lovely weather, enthusiastic game playing and lots of laughs at this years summer picnic, which was held on Wednesday 23rd August at the QE Olympic Park in Stratford.
Despite the dismal forecast, the sun put his hat on (almost) for this years annual Community Options Summer Picnic & Wellbeing walk at the QE2 Olympic Park in Stratford.
The group consisted of service users and staff from the Newham and Inspire services, as well as corporate staff from Heritage Care. Everyone enjoyed a day of mingling, getting active and eating with a spread of everyone’s favourite picnic food including sandwiches, crisps, cakes and the occasional healthy snack!
The group organised themselves into teams of five for a relay like no other ever attempted! Round one was a traditional race, then things got interesting. In round two participants had to hold a bottle of water on their head whilst running. Then the final round when everyone’s hair got truly wet as they ran the relay with an open bottle of water resting their heads!
After the excitement of the relay the group relaxed a little and some guests played a few games of badminton. The day ended with a relaxing walk around the Olympic Park, spotting the sports sites and reminiscing about the London Olympic games.
Charlotte Spirgel-Sinclair, Co-Production and Involvement Manager for, Community Options said ‘’I’ve only been with Community Options one month and this was a fantastic opportunity to get to know everyone. It was great to see everyone have fun and laughs, particularly during the relay.”
Thanks go to everyone who attended the picnic, as well as all those who helped to organise it.
