The Recovery College Open day was a day full of networking, learning and discovery.

The Recovery College Open Day had a drop in session that ran between 12pm and 4pm on Friday 7th July. Throughout the day a mixture of professionals, students, tutors and people from community groups came together to network and find out more about the college what it has to offer.

The Open day began with refreshments and gave attendees the opportunity to mingle and chat with other attendees. This was then followed by a series of presentations, firstly from the Recovery College team about their journey so far and then from three peer tutors of the Recovery College.

The Tutors gave some details about their experience delivering courses at the College and how the course’s content has positively impacted on students, their mental health and their wellbeing. Attendees also gave feedback on what they thought the successes of the college were and how things might be improved going forward.

Later on in the day Carrie Fitzpatrick (Deputy Director of Mental Health and Joint Commissioning at Tower Hamlets) and Edwin Ndlovu (East London Foundation Trust Director and the Recovery College Team) congratulated the team on the terms success and expressed their optimism for future college terms.

Dr Lucja Kolkiewicz (Consultant Psychiatrist & Associate Medial Director for Recovery and Wellbeing) also took to the stage on the day to present the ideas for the Recovery College’s offerings expanding with a Creative Summer School, to include; a Quilting, Art and a Video Workshop. These ideas were met with lots of enthusiasm from the audience.
