Inspire took part in this years Tower Hamlets Health fair in August. This was an event organised by Tower Hamlets Community Housing and held at East Tarling Community Centre in East London. The day was full of information and learning and over 100 people attended, including service users, staff from community groups and people from the community in Tower Hamlets.
This was an informative day full of information and sharing regarding health and wellbeing. It gave attendants the chance to ask questions and find out more about various health concerns and conditions. There were over 20 stalls including mental health, NHS stalls, Healthwatch, Alzheimer’s Society, LinkAge Plus and cancer awareness.
The day was not just about the concerns of health but also the fun in health with Urban Smoothies making people peddle a smoothie. This involved encouraging people to get on a bike to get a blender motion in order to make a smoothie. This was a great healthy treat, which encouraged a healthy spin on exercising and was environmentally friendly too! Other fun on the day also included quizzes dispelling common myths about health problems, a free lunch and a bouncy castle.
Thank you to the Tower Hamlets Community Housing for inviting the Inspire Consortium to have a stall at the fair this year and helping us spread awareness about mental health as well as being educated about other health issues.
